We use DisplayLink chips in all our USB 2.0 and 3.0 graphics and laptop docking products. These drivers may be installed with or without hardware present yet. Final configuration will then be completed automatically when hardware is plugged in.
Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP
We recommend downloading the very latest DisplayLink drivers for all version of Windows, as drivers are still being actively fixed and improved. The current DisplayLink drivers can be downloaded here:
DisplayLink Driver Version 7.6 M2
Please note that it is perfectly normal to have your monitors briefly flash black (as if not connected) once or more during installation. A reboot may be required to complete install.
Mac OS X
At the current time, it appears OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) and 10.10 (Yosemite) have issues with most multiple monitor setups other than a single non-HDMI external display. Using 2+ USB monitors or using an HDMI connection to a monitor (even without USB graphics) appears to cause problems on reboot. For more details on the situation with DisplayLink and OS X 10.9 and 10.10, please take a look at this blog post.
If you are a user that can stay on 10.8.5, DisplayLink’s 2.3 Beta driver will work well for HDMI/DVI/VGA up to 4 additional USB-attached monitors. We recommend staying on 10.8.5 until the 10.9/10.10 problems are solved by Apple and DisplayLink. If you’re using a version of OS X beyond 10.8.5, performance of DisplayLink USB graphics adapters will potentially be unsatisfactory, and is therefor not recommended.
If you already have 10.9 or 10.10, only a single USB-attached display (using DVI or VGA to monitor, not HDMI) will work reliably on OS X 10.9.
